Chompoo is not used to comedy

“Chompoo” Araya A Hartgett is not used to comedy lakorns. She is better known for her roles in tear jerking drama but in her latest project, Chompoo switched to comedy for her two upcoming work – lakorn with “Ken” Theradeth “Wiwa wa woon” & movie with Mario Maurer, “Saranae siblor”.

“I’ve been filming “Wiwa wa woon” every week and now I’m starting to get the joke. Especially after I’ve done “Saranae sib lor”, now I realized what it meant to let go. Honestly I do understand my character but it’s more about the way to act out the character and make it funny and natural. In some scenes I read the script and I feel it’s pathetic, how do I make this look cute without feeling paranoid. Sometimes I think comedy is like over acting. I had trouble believing in it”

“P’King (Director: Somsree Supark) advised me to let go and just be natural. Don’t try to be rational about it. But as an actress, honestly you need to believe in it too and you need to find the reasons for your character. However once you start to let that concept go, it becomes easier”

So drama is easier for you?

“No it’s not like that. It’s more like I’m not used to it but once I can adapt myself around the concept it’s quite comfortable. It’s like I’m on a break”

During the interview, Chompoo wore a pink Louis Vuitton necklace (no picture). A reporter asked her about it;

“This is something I wore on the catwalk. It’s not for sale and there’s not many of them around, there’s none in Thailand but when my friend went overseas she saw it but it’s very hard to find. It’s a 7 digit figure”

“As for most of my accessories not including diamonds, I think this one is pretty expensive. However it’s a rare one and I’m confident there’s no more of it around. So that’s why I bought one. There’s different colours, but I like pink”

  1. Haha she does good in comedy. I don’t think drama is fit for her… well I take that back, she does okay in light drama but not extreme.

  2. The first lakorn I say her star in was a comedy with Por Nattawat where her grandma sings the song with the papaya salad.

  3. she has done a good amount of comedy…so what is she trying to say?

  4. to be a great actor u must be versatile in every rold rather than stereotype. in great actor u can really see the whole transformation of character if u watch MILK, actor Sean Penn is really amazing u will notice his movement and body language is really in the character itself… he is an amazing actor…..

    So Chompoo be versatile if u want be a great actor instead of holding on yr good look… way to go…. way to go

  5. she’s so so lucky ,with ken & mario~~

  6. Wow, how she feels about comedy scripts is exactly how I feel about extreme, crazy drama scripts! lol! I think alot of people would have a easier time acting “funny” than acting “dramatic”. I can’t wait for Ken and Chompoo’s drama though. I think Chompoo would be so cute acting funny just like Anne. (:

  7. i think she is very lucky indeed!

  8. Comedy is very hard. It is all about timing. The jokes and the lines are tied tightly to each other. http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/
